College thespians collaborate in MANO MANO FESTIVAL at the CBRC Dream Theater

Even as the first microcinema franchise, the CBRC Dream Theater still proves its multi-purpose quality as an arts space through its next venture – the theater. On October 2018, Dr Carl Balita Productions presents to you its very first MANO MANO FESTIVAL – an all-original, all-youth festival of 4 one-act plays. It all started as a workshop from June to July 2018. Trained by renowned thespians like Angeli Bayani and JK Anicoche, 25 theater students from different college theater groups (UST’s Artistang Artlets, PUP’s Sining-lahi Polyrepertory, UP Manila Dramatista, Ateneo Entablado, Ateneo Blue Repertory, Baon Collective and UP Los Baños’ Umalohokan, Inc.) all came together to collaborate on 4 different original plays in just a span of 3 months of discussions and training. And now they have crafted their own productions - writing, performing, designing and directing their own plays. Dulaang UP returns with a classic

Luigi Pirandello’s masterpiece, Six Characters in Search of an Author, and its Filipino Translation by Rody Vera, Anim na Tauhang Naghahanap ng May-Akda is set to open Dulaang UP’s 43rd Theatre Season. Professor Emeritus Tony Mabesa, Founding Artistic Director of Dulaang UP, will direct this seminal work of Modern theater. Six Characters in Search of an Author begins with a company rehearsing a play by Pirandello when suddenly, a Family dressed in mourning appears and claims that they are Characters in need of an author to finish writing their story. As the family shares their drama to the company, the director contemplates and eventually decides to stage it. What follows is a series of re-enactments and argumentations between the Company and the Characters. As the audience ponders on a rehearsal process, the play asks—how, despite opposing viewpoints, can the truth be discerned? NCCA Ilog Pasig Project Offers Free Writing and Filmmaking Workshops

Taga-alog 2018, Ilog Pasig: Balik Tanaw, Balik Sigla, is a creative campaign for the promotion of the Pasig River as a space for cultural identity and collective memory. A banner project of the National Commission for Culture and the Arts’ NCR-Island Cluster, it was officially launched in June 28, 2018 at Villa Immaculada, Intramuros, Manila. Together with Ramon Magsaysay Awardee, the Philippine Educational Association (PETA) and a host of partners and stakeholders, the project has put together performances, workshops, competitions, site enhancement programs, research and conferences, and adventure tours in an effort to encourage our young people to get involved and be active ambassadors in bringing the Pasig River back to life. The greatest movie monster "The Predator" sets foot in History Con 2018

Noted actress Mayen Estanero joins cast of M. Butterfly

The producers of the forthcoming Tony Award Winner for Best Play ‘M. BUTTERFLY’ led by JHETT TOLENTINO and RS FRANCISCO of Front Row Entertainment formally welcomes noted theater actress MAYEN ESTAÑERO to the production as she steps into the role of Comrade Chin effective August 7. Rebecca Chuaunsu who was initially tapped to essay the role at the beginning of the production has opted to vacate the role due to the conflict in production schedules. Award-winning artist KANAKAN-BALINTAGOS shall direct this classic masterpiece drama written by David Henry Hwang, inspired by Giaccomo Puccini's opera “Madame Butterfly” loosely based on events surrounding a 1986 espionage trial about a mysterious Chinese opera singer and a French diplomat. "Ginugunita Kita" performance art all set on September 26

In line with its 18 th year anniversary celebration, The Maningning Miclat Art Foundation Inc. in cooperation with District Gallery - Artist Playground, and the Far Eastern University President’s Committee on Culture presents “GINUGUNITA KITA,” a performance art featuring Maningning Miclat’s poems and an all original music composed by Jesse Lucas. “GINUGUNITA KITA” will be held on September 26 – Wednesday 6 p.m. at the historic, newly-opened FEU Auditorium located at Nicanor Reyes St., Sampaloc, Manila. Maningning Miclat was a poet, fictionist and essayist in English, Filipino and Chinese as well as a painter in Western and Chinese genre. A Bachelor of Fine Arts graduate in UP Diliman, she was a fellow of the U.P. National Writer's Workshop, Silliman Writer's Workshop and Rio Alma Poetry Clinic. Official first look of the new Terminator movie

The untitled, in-production sequel to James Cameron’s original Terminator films has just revealed its first look photo with three women looking badass and ready for battle – in photo (from left to right) are Natalia Reyes as Dani Ramos, Mackenzie Davis as Grace and Linda Hamilton (returns) as Sarah Connor. The upcoming Terminator movie also sees the return of Arnold Schwarzenegger along with new cast members Gabriel Luna and Diego Boneta. The film is produced by James Cameron and David Ellison under the direction of Tim Miller (Deadpool). Reinventing a Terminator for the 21st century, the movie picks up from the story of Terminator 1 and 2. “And we’re pretending the other films were a bad dream,” James Cameron said in previous interviews. “Or an alternate timeline, which is permissible in our multi-verse.” The most anticipated return of the Terminator hits Philippine cinemas November 20, 2019.
