A contemporary rock musical with book and lyrics by Brian Yorkey and music by Tom Kitt, Next To Normal tackles themes like mental health, drug abuse, and ethics in modern psychiatry. The Summer Solstice opens Dulaang Laboratoryo's festival season

This coming March 6-8, 2020, Dulaang Laboratoryo would open its festival season with Nick Joaquin’s Summer Solstice, a chamber theatre adaptation by Allen Baylosis. With this, we are inviting your company to be one of our media partners. The story features controversial themes about the three-day Tadtarin ritual where women celebrate their femininity and fertility. It is set on the feast day of Saint John in the 1850s. She mocks men in the procession, and she listens to Guido, her husband’s cousin, telling her about the supremacy of women. Don Paeng, her husband, claims that women should need love and respect, not adoration. The drama continues to DoƱa Lupeng’s decision to join the ritual, giving her momentary power, and Don Paeng submitting to her presence. The adaptation of The Summer Solstice into a Chamber Theater P...
