Excitement fills the air as some of the hottest names in the music and theatre industry come together to showcase their talents in the acclaimed Filipino rock opera ballet, RAMA, HARI. Directed and choreographed by the esteemed National Artist Alice Reyes, with music composed by National Artist Ryan Cayabyab, and a libretto by National Artist Bienvenido Lumbera, this production promises to captivate audiences with its mesmerizing storytelling. Joining the stellar cast are both seasoned performers and fresh faces, creating a perfect blend of experience and new talent. Let's look at the remarkable lineup that will bring this timeless epic to life.

Gian Magdangal, renowned for his award-winning performance in Carousel (2022), and the operatic sensation Arman Ferrer take on the challenging roles of Rama, the noble prince. Vien King, a 2020 Gawad Buhay Awardee, will also grace the stage as an alternate Rama, providing a fresh character interpretation. Meanwhile, the spotlight shines on musical theater stars Karylle Tatlonghari and Shiela Valderrama-Martinez, who will mesmerize audiences by portraying the enchanting Sita. Nica Tupas, a rising talent, will also alternate in the role of Sita, adding a new dimension to the character.

The formidable demon king Ravana will be portrayed by Poppert Bernadas, known for his stellar performance in Rak of Aegis, and Mathew San Jose, a talented musical theater actor making his Manila debut. Jonel Mojica will alternate in this challenging role, ensuring audiences are captivated by the complex antagonist.

The legendary Audie Gemora, a theater icon, takes on the role of King Dasaratha, providing a commanding presence throughout the show. Miah Canton and Raflesia Bravo embrace the dual roles of Soorpanakha and Kooni, while Katrine Sunga and Maron Rozelle Mabana deliver powerful performances as Kaikeyi and "Gintong Usa." Additionally, Paw Castillo and Jon Abella will bring depth and charm to the characters of Lakshmana and the monkey general Hanuman.

Arman expresses his excitement, as RAMA, HARI has been his dream role since their performance at the ASEAN Opening Ceremonies in 2017. Shiela shares her gratitude for the opportunity to work with Alice Reyes Dance Philippines, describing her role as a dream come true. Karylle, filled with anticipation, is eager to witness the evolution of RAMA, HARI in 2023.

RAMA, HARI draws inspiration from the ancient Sanskrit epic Ramayana, which chronicles Prince Rama's journey, his marriage to Sita, their 14-year banishment, and their encounters with the vicious Ravana and his sister Soorpanakha. With a creative fusion of music, dance, and theater, this production promises to bring this timeless tale to life in a compelling and immersive manner.

Presented by the Cultural Center of the Philippines, RAMA, HARI showcases the extraordinary talents of the Alice Reyes Dance Philippines (ARDP) and the CCP's Professional Artist Support Program (PASP). Guests from Guang Ming College and other regional schools, who actively participated in previous ARDP and PASP productions, will also contribute to the ensemble cast. The show schedule includes performances at the Metropolitan Theater and Samsung Performing Arts Theater, accompanied by live music from The Orchestra of the Filipino Youth.

As part of their 2023 Dance Season, ARDP will also present Carmen and Other Spirits, featuring Alice Reyes' Carmen and new works by young Filipino choreographers, as well as Puso ng Pasko, an all-Filipino Christmas Ballet celebrating the festive spirit across the Philippine islands. These upcoming productions promise to showcase the richness of Filipino artistry and talent.

ARDP, spearheaded by National Artist for Dance Alice Reyes, is making waves in the Filipino dance scene, inspiring and transforming lives through the power of dance. By bringing together renowned artists and emerging talents, ARDP creates a platform for Filipino dancers and choreographers to shine locally and internationally. As RAMA, HARI takes center stage with its stellar cast. Audiences can anticipate an unforgettable experience that blends the magic of music, theater, and dance.
