An Urban Tapestry of Love and Laughter: Repertory Philippines' "I Love You, You're Perfect, Now Change"

Despite coming to the theater with minimal knowledge beyond the play's inclusion in Repertory Philippines' lineup from late last year, I was nonetheless excited. My anticipation was piqued by the promise of vignettes featuring four powerhouse musical theater actors under the masterful direction of the First Lady of Philippine Musical Theater, Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo. Upon searching for my seat, I was immediately struck by a dynamic projection that hinted at stories from the urban jungle. The presence of a live band, a rare treat in modern theater, elevated my expectations even further. It had been quite some time since I last experienced the vibrant energy that live musicians bring to a performance. The set design was nothing short of spectacular.
