NEW EP BY NICOLE LAUREL ASENSIO AND GABE DANDAN FEATURING 4 TRACKS SET FOR RELEASE ON JULY 5

Nicole Laurel Asensio is ready to celebrate her birthday month in style with the release of her new EP, 'Changes Over Time,' created in collaboration with producer Gabe Dandan. This four-track EP, set to release on July 5, is a blend of various musical eras and styles, promising a unique listening experience.

Nicole and Gabe's collaboration shines in 'Changes Over Time,' where orchestral elements meet electronic rhythms, creating a rich and immersive sound. The tracks have been expertly mixed and mastered in Dolby Atmos by Waxiefied Sound Production.

"This EP is a mix of different styles from our favorite musical eras. You'll hear elements from the 80s, early 90s acid jazz, mid-90s neo-soul, and a fusion of 70s disco with modern house and electronic music," says Gabe Dandan. "The Dilla swing feel runs through the EP but is expressed through the various sonic landscapes of these eras."

Nicole adds, "We started the demos during a lock-in session at my home and later took them to the Dolby Atmos equipped Waxiefied Sound Production. The writing and producing process was spontaneous and intense, but that's what gave these songs their unique charm."

Track Highlights:

  1. "Amused": This track feels like a smooth cocktail in a classy bar, starting with a full orchestra sound and transitioning into a slow groove with a full horns section. Inspired by 80s soul-R&B, Nicole's distinctive vocals and the female backup singers add a touch of sensuality.
  2. "Where We're Meant to Be": Blending hints of acid jazz and soul, this upbeat track is about accepting life's circumstances and living in the moment. Percussive elements and classic jazz melodies combine with modern production, creating a rich and spirited sound.
  3. "Mirages": Inspired by an experience on Siargao island, this track features exotic instruments like the koto and lute, and transitions into a dark beat reminiscent of trudging through desert sand. Gabe also contributes his vocals, adding a new dimension to the EP.
  4. "Changes Over Time": The title track is a sonic journey with multiple shifts in tempo and feel. Starting with 2000s-influenced house beats and effervescent vocals, it transitions into intimate musings over a sultry groove, and then picks up again with electronic elements before fading into a gospel choir-influenced outro.

"This EP is about the fleeting nature of life. We can't escape the passage of time, and everything changes around us. These four songs express our growth and evolution while staying true to what is good and beautiful about us," says Gabe.

Creating this EP was a collaborative effort with talented musicians and engineers, including live sessions with drummer Randall Enriquez, a horn section led by Michael Guevarra, and guest vocals from industry friends Mel Torre, Sarah Holmes, Dominic Dimagmaliw, and Kevin Yadao. The EP also features world-renowned trumpet player Aaron Janik.

"Working on 'Changes Over Time' was an immersive experience. Bringing these songs to life was a fantastic journey," says Waxie Joaquin of Waxiefied Sound Production.

'Changes Over Time' will be released on all digital platforms on July 5, 2024, at midnight. Celebrate the launch with a countdown gig on July 4, 2024, at 8:30 PM at 19EAST, East Service Road, Sucat, followed by a series of shows across the metro.
