Shakespeare's Rose Theatre not proceeding with Manila Season

[MANILA, 12 SEPTEMBER 2019]: The producers of UK-based Shakespeare’s Rose Theatre have today announced that they will not be proceeding with their productions of Macbeth and A Midsummer Night’s Dream, due to be staged at the Theatre at Solaire from 17 to 22 September 2019. Shakespeare’s Rose Theatre has just completed two summer seasons in the UK – in York and Blenheim Palace concurrently – employing 150 actors, musicians, creatives and crew over 17 weeks, and has achieved outstanding reviews from both the media and audiences of its productions of Hamlet, Twelfth Night, The Tempest and Henry V in York and Macbeth, A Midsummer Night’s Dream, Romeo & Juliet and Richard III at Blenheim Palace. Get ready for the most authentic Oktoberfest at Solaire!

For the second year, German Club Manila and Solaire brings to the country the real Oktoberfest. This will be happening from October 17 to 19 at The Tent at Solaire. Just recently, I was invited for a preview of how to festivities would commence. Solaire's function room, Forum, was transformed into how Oktoberfest is celebrated in Munich, Germany. Even the servers were in traditional clothes! As we were seated, authentic German fare were immediately served. For starters, we were given German breads, pretzels, sausage salad, cold cuts, and a cheese platter. Of course, Weihenstephan beer was also provided. The program started when German Club's Michael Scheile and Eiffelene Salvador got on the stage. A short history of Oktoberfest was given and Solaire's Vice President of Food & Beverage, Knut Becker, welcomed the crowd and expressed his delight in the renewed partnership. Solaire and German Club Manila once again bring you the much-awaited and most authentic Oktoberfest celebration in Manila happening on October 17 to 19 at The Tent at Solaire. In its press conference held recently, members of the media were given a preview of this year’s Oktoberfest and what the public should look out for. Decked in true Oktoberfest fashion, Solaire’s The Forum was transformed to vividly resemble the look and feel of Oktoberfest celebrations in Munich, Germany. Be Our Guest Theatrical's 13th of September was chosen to represent the Philippines in the upcoming Theatre de Mont-Laurier at Quebec, Canada! The biennial theater festival will run from September 5-11, 2019 and only 25 companies from over 20 companies were selected to join.
