Blue Repertory’s Next To Normal is a Testament to How Collaboration Produces Excellence #NextToNormalBlueRep

I have been going through tough times for a few years now and there would be instances where I would listen to the soundtrack of Next To Normal on Spotify to help me cope. What Blue Repertory gave me was an experience that I could hang on to when dark clouds gather over me. Despite physical limitations, excellence was seen in the acting and singing of everyone in the cast! Most of the interpretations were similar to the broadway rendition and I could say that this production deserves to be recorded for more people to discover the hope that it gives the theatergoers.
Notable in the performance I witnessed is Nikki Bengzon. Even as a Freshman, she is able to bring her character to life at the same level as the professional actors in the cast. All the professionals were wonderful, especially Cris Villonco whose portrayal of Diana brings you through the reality of mental illness accurately. Practically, the whole performance is smooth and this is a testament to how having Missy Maramara, a great woman with a vision for the musical, as a director is. She knows how to push things forward efficiently and acknowledges how every person involved contributes. Missy may have described herself as a young director but she is clearly a radiant light in the theater scene.
All the shows are already sold out at this time but a production this strong needs another run! I've only heard of great reviews and if there be producers who would be interested to restage this, I wouldn't think twice to support it!
Bravo!
