Illuminating Love's Many Facets: FTG's Tamdula VI: Love-Oratory

In the vibrant heart of Manila's University Belt, the Far Eastern University Theater Guild (FTG) stands as a testament to the power of artistic expression. With a legacy that has flourished over the years, FTG has become a beacon of creative insight, capturing hearts and minds with its impactful productions. As the curtains draw close on the organization's 89th theater season, FTG proudly presents an exploration of one of humanity's most complex emotions through "Tamdula VI: Love-Oratory." This collection of eight monologues delves into the intricate tapestry of love, unraveling its various shades and dimensions.

"Tamdula VI: Love-Oratory" goes beyond the realm of traditional performances. It serves as a dynamic platform for FTG members to hone their craft across various disciplines, including acting, stage design, management, and marketing. Guided by the creative vision of Raffaelle Pascua, the Artistic Head, and assistant director Jonas Cunanan, both esteemed student artists, this production is a testament to the evolution of talent and skill within the guild. Dudz Teraña, the FTG's artistic director, lends invaluable expertise to the endeavor, ensuring that the essence of each monologue is conveyed masterfully.

"Against Any-Body" by Drea Achas: This monologue paints a portrait of womanhood's imperfections, emphasizing the significance of self-acceptance in the face of societal pressures. Julia Ramas and Gwen Temprosa alternate in portraying this narrative, which champions authenticity.

"Ang Pinakawalang Kwentang Kwentong Pag-ibig ni Tanga" by Dudz Teraña: Exploring the complexities of moving on from a non-committal relationship, this piece resonates with those who have struggled with letting go. Adam Labador and Meldy Malig, alternating roles, delve deep into the emotional turmoil of moving forward.

"It’s Always You" by Davewyn Macawile: Through the lens of sudden abandonment, this monologue captures the essence of heartbreak. Maria Mayano, Jhoan Gemora, and Ryana Azurin's performances convey the poignant aftermath of such a breakup.

"Shake, Rattle, and Fall" by Aaron Bayani: This monologue peels back the layers of obsession and desperation in the pursuit of love. Drea Achas and Jharelle Villalobos offer performances that blur the line between love and fixation.

"Mama Kong May Tama" by Brigitta Marilla: This narrative celebrates the profound bond between a mother and daughter. Portrayed alternately by Heleina Li and Bjorn Pestaño, the monologue tugs at heartstrings, echoing the enduring love that exists within families.

"Dear God" by Dudz Teraña: Adding a touch of humor, this monologue delves into the musings of an 18-year-old yearning for love. Dianne Andallo and Renz Dotillos add levity to the exploration of young love.

"Colorblind" by Franz Luis: Introducing a unique twist, this monologue portrays a character who is both medically and romantically colorblind. With a surprise guest artist, FTG creatively addresses love's challenges.

"Paghihintay ng Isang Libong Minuto Para sa Pag-ibig" by Dudz Teraña: The final monologue of the series contemplates the depth of romantic love and the sacrifices it demands. Arvin Javier's performance lingers, inviting reflection on love's true essence.
