Come From Away: A Landmark Filipino-Led Production Set to Open in Manila

The powerful true story that has captivated audiences worldwide is finally making its way to Manila! GMG Productions and Stages have officially announced their fresh take on the critically acclaimed, multi-award-winning musical Come From Away. This production marks a significant milestone as GMG Productions’ first Filipino-led show, a testament to their dedication to elevating Philippine theatre.

From June 6 to 29, 2025, the Come From Away experience will take center stage at the Samsung Performing Arts Theater (S-PAT) for a strictly limited run, promising an unforgettable theatrical journey that celebrates resilience, kindness, and human connection.

A Proud Moment for Filipino Theatre

A Story That Resonates

Set in the aftermath of September 11, 2001, Come From Away tells the remarkable true story of 7,000 airline passengers who were unexpectedly grounded in Gander, Newfoundland. As fear and uncertainty gripped the world, the small town’s residents opened their homes and hearts, demonstrating extraordinary generosity and compassion.

Premiering on Broadway in 2017, Come From Away has garnered widespread acclaim for its heartfelt storytelling and powerful music. Publications have praised its uplifting nature, with Time Out describing it as “a totally, soul-feedingly wonderful musical” and The Daily Beast calling it “a celebration of the best of humankind.”

The musical has won numerous prestigious awards, including a Tony Award for Best Direction, multiple Olivier Awards, and Drama Desk Awards, solidifying its place as one of the most moving and inspirational theatrical productions of our time.

A Stellar Filipino-Led Ensemble


The Manila production of Come From Away boasts an impressive cast of 15 esteemed Philippine theatre artists, including Cathy Azanza-Dy, Caisa Borromeo, Garrett Bolden, Mikkie Bradshaw-Volante, Becca Coates, Steven Cadd, Mayen Cadd, Rycharde Everley, Topper Fabregas, Sheila Francisco, Carla Guevara Laforteza, Menchu Lauchengco-Yulo, Gian Magdangal, George Schulze, and Chino Veguillas.

“Come From Away is the perfect vehicle to showcase home-grown talent as the musical requires versatile actors to play different characters,” said Gemora. “We have assembled the best of the best in Philippine theater. The energy surrounding this production is through the roof! This is going to be epic.”

The creative team behind the production is equally impressive, led by director Michael Williams and musical director Rony Fortich. Joining them are Delphine Buencamino (choreography), Harry Tabner (lighting design), Luke Swaffield (sound design), Kayla Teodoro (production design), Myrene Santos (hair and makeup design), Hershee Tatiado (costume design), and Broadway’s original dialect coach Joel Goldes.
