When the Heart Returns Home — Nicole Laurel Asensio’s Let Our Love
There is a certain scent that fills the air when an artist comes home. The scent of travel worn away by salt and smoke, of stage lights replaced by the slow warmth of creation. Today, November 7, Nicole Laurel Asensio returns to local shores with Let Our Love, her newest single under Warner Music Philippines.
It arrives quietly, like a whisper at the end of a long day. Yet beneath its calm surface, there is fire. Teaming once again with producer and multi-instrumentalist Gabe Dandan, Nicole draws from a place of ease and freedom. Together they weave something sensual and soulful, a track that breathes like a living thing.
“It was the first time I asked Gabe to strike the match and ignite the creative process,” Nicole recalls. “No references, no notes, no plans. Just trust.”
And that trust became spark, then song. What followed was a dance between impulse and intention, a creative current that moved with its own rhythm.
Painting in Sound
Michael Guevarra’s horn arrangement moves like watercolor on silk. Mike Lichtenfeld’s keys ripple like reflections on a window after the rain. Aman Dela Cruz’s percussion and the layered backing vocals from Kevin Yadao and Mel Torre lend the song a depth that feels both playful and tender.
The final master, completed by Alex Gordon at Abbey Road Studios UK, polishes these textures without taming them. Recorded between Wildgrass Studio and Kodama Studio, every note carries the warmth of real rooms and breathing players.
“Together we make a picture with colors only the blind can see,” Gabe shares. “Nicole’s lyrics sit between happiness and sadness, restraint and release.”
That description fits perfectly. The song doesn’t rush. It shimmers, then settles, the way love often does when it grows up.
The Beauty of Holding Back
“I am enjoying slowing down the process,” Nicole reflects. “Creating music that feels timeless, that still has depth but is also feel-good.”
Her voice glides between Soul, R&B, and Jazz, kissed by hints of 90s sophisti-pop. The result is a song that sounds like it could have existed any time, anywhere. Its poetry floats in surreal imagery: “Reflections of yesterday in an iron frame, like butterflies break away.”
It is a study in restraint, in trusting silence as much as melody.
An Ongoing Story
“When you have the opportunity to create, nothing and no one should stop you,” she says. “Love knows no bounds, and neither do art and music.”
Her words feel less like a quote and more like a compass. Let Our Love reminds us that creation itself is an act of affection, one that continues even after the applause fades.
What Comes Next
It is easy to imagine her in the studio, barefoot on the wood floor, the room still humming after the final take. The music lingers, steady as breath. There is no finale, only continuation, the kind that invites you to press play again.
Let Our Love is now available on all streaming platforms under Warner Music Philippines.
