Don't Miss "Walang Biro sa Banyuhay" - A Metamorphic Tale on Stage
Get ready for a mind-bending theatrical experience unlike anything you've seen before. "Walang Biro sa Banyuhay" is an upcoming thesis production that will take you on a journey into the bizarre world of Franz Kafka's classic novella "The Metamorphosis."
At the heart of this production is the Salangsang family, whose lives are turned upside down when Grenda, the family's former breadwinner and call center agent, inexplicably transforms into a giant insect. Yes, you read that right - a human metamorphosing into an insect on stage!
How and why did this happen? How will Grenda and her family cope with this shocking new reality that threatens to devour the life they once knew? These are just some of the tantalizing questions that will unravel before your eyes.
This daring theatrical vision is a collaborative effort between UP Dulaang Laboratoryo and Ateneo Fine Arts, brought to life by a talented creative team of directors Missy Maramara and Raflesia Bravo. It features the artistry of technical theatre, design, and performance majors, as well as special guest Shof Galagate.
With Imuthis' imaginative adaptation of Kafka's seminal work serving as the foundation, the production creates a unique world that blends quintessential Filipino family culture with the haunting themes of isolation and alienation that made the original story so impactful.
Don't miss your chance to witness this extraordinary human-to-insect metamorphosis on stage. Mark your calendars for May 11 at 7 PM and May 12 at 3 PM & 7 PM, when "Walang Biro sa Banyuhay" takes over Teatro Hermogenes Ylagan at the University of the Philippines Diliman.
Best of all, admission is FREE! But you'll need to reserve your seats at bit.ly/BANYUHAYreservation before they're all snapped up.
Get ready to have your perception of reality challenged and your appreciation for daring, thought-provoking theatre deepened. This is one metamorphosis you won't want to miss!
