Ramon Orlina's Clear Impressions To Open November 30, 2015

In line with Sir Ramon Orlina's 40th year as an artist, an exhibition of recent optical glass pieces shall be held at the Reflections Gallery of Museo Orlina, Tagaytay from November 30, 2015 until January 16, 2016.
Last November 28, 2015, the press was given the privilege to have an exclusive afternoon with the artist himself and her beautiful wife, Lay Ann.
Sir Ramon Orlina is certainly someone to be admired. With his background as an architect, he was able to leverage his knowledge and experience in his profession to learn and create the art of glass sculpturing and fully become an artist. It would take great lengths to copy his flawless art as it was Sir Ramon, himself, who developed the process of creating his pieces. Even early in his career, he was already recognized internationally.
Breaking the usual artist's mold, Sir Ramon is someone who is very approachable and willing to share not just his art but also his experiences. Over lunch, he shared that two of the most memorable pieces of advice that he received from one of his professors are "Don't marry early" and "Attend all social functions." It was not explained by their professor but he soon found out in his experience with an architectural firm that it was practical advice as marrying early can tie you down with debt. Regarding social functions, Sir Ramon shared an anecdote that he was invited to the birthday party of the spouse of a relative that he wasn't close to at that time. Being sociable, he easily enjoyed the night. Later in the evening, remembering that he was an architect, the host asked him to be the architect of their planned house of 7 rooms. A great supporter of other forms of arts, Sir Ramon also shared how the museum has been house to upcoming artists of not just of sculptures and paintings, but also of musicians, having an amphitheater and offspring who equally love the arts.
Being practical and naturally sociable, it was no surprise that Sir Ramon is very successful and that his art and museum attracts people from all walks of life. His continuing passion is clearly seen in his latest exhibit, showcasing the use of optical glass. During the tour, Sir Ramon shares that with glass sculptures, you have to consider 32 views during every step of the process. Focusing on what he considers as a material of purity, his optical glass pieces shine above the rest as it may allow light without modifying its color. Arguably it is even the most flexible glass material. This is seen in how paintings a the back of certain sculptures modify your view and even enhance the beauty of the already radiant pieces. Two sculptures created by his daughters, Monina and Anna, in collaboration with Sir Ramon, will also be in the gallery.
To celebrate the opening of Clear Impressions, A two-piano concerto soiree with Ingrid S. Santamaria and Cecile B. Roxas will be held at the Museum on November 30, 2015, 3PM. Beethoven's Concerto No. 5 and Saint Saens' Concerto No. 2 in G Minor will be played.
