Unlock Your Creative Potential: Maningning Poetry Workshop Accepting Entries Until Sept. 15
Are you a budding poet with a passion for words and a desire to make your voice heard? The Maningning Miclat Art Foundation Inc. (MMAFI), in collaboration with the Far Eastern University Center for the Arts (FCA), Institute of Architecture and Fine Arts (IARFA), and Institute of Arts and Sciences (IAS), invites you to take part in an enriching experience that could change the course of your poetic journey.
The Maningning Poetry Workshop, set to take place on September 27, 2023, promises to be a day filled with inspiration, creativity, and learning. This workshop is an opportunity for emerging poets, aged 26 and younger, to refine their craft and explore the theme "Pagtatagumpay sa Pandemya" (Triumph in the Pandemic).
Fifteen talented individuals will have the chance to participate in this transformative event, and the best part? It's absolutely free! The workshop is part of the one-day art and poetry extravaganza at the FEU University Conference Center, where participants will immerse themselves in the world of poetry and art.
As if the workshop weren't exciting enough, the event will also mark the launch of the hardbound book, "Ningning at Liwanag: Antolohiya ng 10 Nagwagi sa Gawad Maningning Miclat sa Tula (2003-2021)." This anthology, published by MMAFI and Erehwon Artworld Corporation, showcases the works of ten exceptional poets who received the Gawad Maningning Miclat sa Tula award between 2003 and 2021.
What's more, this book received a Publication Grant for 2023 from the National Book Development Board (NBDB), highlighting its significance in the literary world. Be prepared to be inspired and moved by the powerful verses within its pages.
The event will also shine a spotlight on the winners of the 2023 Maningning Miclat Poetry Competition. These poets have captured the essence of the theme with their words and are set to be recognized for their outstanding contributions to the world of poetry.
For those who appreciate both the visual and written arts, the Maningning Poetry Workshop will feature an exhibit sale of artworks by past Maningning Art Award winners. The names Dexter Sy, Jessica Lopez, Nikko Pelaez, Kristoffer Tolentino, and Joen Sudlon are synonymous with artistic excellence. In addition to these luminaries, faculty and selected students from IARFA will showcase their creative talents, offering a diverse array of artistic expressions to admire and acquire.
The Maningning Poetry Workshop is privileged to have three esteemed facilitators who will guide participants on their poetic journey. Karl/Kid Orit, president of the Cavite Young Writers Association (CYWA), and Enrique S. Villasis, a seasoned film and television writer for Viva and ABS-CBN, both bring their unique perspectives and expertise to the workshop.
Joining them is Romulo Baquiran, Jr., a respected UP professor and the director of Likhaan: UP Institute of Creative Writing. With their wealth of knowledge and experience, these facilitators are sure to provide valuable insights and guidance to aspiring poets.
