Christine Allado returns to Manila as Rachel Marron in The Bodyguard The Musical

West End star leads Rockwell’s debut production at the Proscenium Theater

It begins with a name.

And for anyone who’s ever belted “Run to You” in front of a bedroom mirror or mouthed “I Will Always Love You” behind the wheel—that name holds weight. Whitney. The Bodyguard. Rachel Marron. A story of fame, fear, and fierce devotion. And this September 2025, that story takes the stage in Manila—with a voice that’s distinctly, proudly Filipino.

Christine Allado stars in The Bodyguard The Musical, opening Rockwell’s very first theatrical production at the Proscenium Theater in Makati. Known across the West End for her commanding performances in Hamilton, The Prince of Egypt, and In the Heights, Allado now steps into a role made famous by Whitney Houston—with the added electricity of coming home.

This isn’t just a role. It’s a reclamation.

A homecoming like no other

Allado’s casting feels as cinematic as it does symbolic. A Filipina performer whose career has included duets with Andrea Bocelli, standing ovations at the Royal Albert Hall, and a turn alongside Lea Salonga and Bernadette Peters in Sondheim’s Old Friends, Christine is now bringing it all back to where it began.

Her Rachel Marron is not just the pop superstar from the film—it’s a globally seasoned woman returning to her roots, dressed in gowns by Leo Almodal, and bathed in spotlight on a stage Manila has never seen quite like this.

It also marks the grand theatrical launch of the Proscenium Theater at Rockwell, a 780-seat venue built for sound, spectacle, and storytelling. And what better way to break in a new stage than with Whitney Houston’s music and a Filipina voice that can rise to meet it?

Whitney’s legacy, reimagined

The score remains iconic—
🎵 “I Have Nothing”
🎵 “Run to You”
🎵 “Queen of the Night”
🎵 “I Will Always Love You”

—but it’s Christine’s interpretation that gives it heart. She doesn’t imitate; she reinterprets. Her crystalline vocals, commanding stage presence, and emotional intelligence make her performance feel both familiar and entirely new.

And just as Rachel finds power in vulnerability, so too does Christine. On home soil. In her own voice.
