DUYOG 2025: Youth, Unity, and Music Take Center Stage at the GSIS Theater
If music is the universal language, then DUYOG 2025 might be its most powerful translation this year.
Taking place on July 12, 2025, at the GSIS Theater in the Cultural Center of the Philippines (CCP) Complex in Pasay City, DUYOG: The 1st International Youth Orchestra Festival 2025 Celebration Concert is more than a showcase—it's a global youth movement set to symphonic rhythm.
The term duyog comes from Visayan, meaning to accompany, but this isn’t just about musical accompaniment. It’s about cultural solidarity, youth collaboration, and the transformative power of orchestral music. The festival, held earlier in Bohol from July 5–10, brings its grand finale to Manila with an awe-inspiring concert.
What Is DUYOG 2025?
Organized by the Manila Symphony Orchestra Foundation and spearheaded by violinist and conductor Jeffrey Solares, DUYOG 2025 is the culminating concert of the first-ever Bohol International Youth Orchestra Festival. This international event is a collaboration with New York’s Children’s Orchestra Society (COS), led by celebrated Filipino conductor and classical guitarist Michael Dadap.
DUYOG 2025 features over 100 young musicians, blending the world-class talents of:
-
Manila Symphony Junior Orchestra (MSJO) – award-winning youth string ensemble from the Philippines
-
Children’s Orchestra Society (COS) – prestigious nonprofit youth orchestra based in New York
-
PUP Bagong Himig Serenata Chorale – a nationally recognized choral group
-
Plectra Corde Rondalla – a celebrated Filipino plucked-string ensemble
The concert will be conducted by an international faculty of conductors from the USA, Hungary, Italy, Vietnam, and the Philippines.

Performed by Gloria Shih, this romantic-era masterpiece highlights the technical and emotional depth of young pianists through dramatic, lyrical, and triumphant passages.
š
Mendelssohn’s Symphony No. 4 in A Major “Italian,” Op. 90
This sunny, high-spirited work channels the composer’s impressions of Italy through vibrant orchestration and lively dance motifs—particularly the exhilarating Saltarello finale.
𤠓Alay Sa Inang Bayan” by Jerry Dadap
A powerful 12-minute choral symphonic ode inspired by Andres Bonifacio, using Filipino instruments and folk themes to explore nationalism, resistance, and love for the motherland.
Why DUYOG 2025 Matters
DUYOG is not just a concert—it's a platform for youth empowerment through music, a rare moment where Filipino culture intersects with global musical excellence. It's a living example of how cross-cultural collaboration can build understanding and unity in a world often divided by language, distance, and difference.
This event is also part of the MSO Foundation’s Road to 100 campaign, as the Manila Symphony Orchestra nears its centennial milestone. DUYOG is a reminder that while legacies are built over time, the future is already here—led by young musicians with vision, discipline, and heart.
