DEAR EVAN HANSEN Extends Manila Run Until October 5 — And Here’s Why You Need to See It

What happens when a musical about loneliness, connection, and the blurry lines between truth and survival resonates so much with its audience that it refuses to say goodbye?

You extend the run. One last time.

And that’s exactly what’s happening with the Tony®, Grammy®, and Olivier Award-winning musical Dear Evan Hansen in Manila. Originally slated to close at the end of September, the international touring production will now run until October 5, 2025, at The Theatre at Solaire.

If you haven’t seen it yet, now is your final, final chance. And if you’ve already seen it? Maybe it's time to go again, this time with the friend you know needs it most.

Why Dear Evan Hansen Hits Harder in 2025 Manila

Let’s talk about what it’s like to sit inside The Theatre at Solaire and feel an entire room fall quiet during “You Will Be Found.” You look around and realize—everyone’s holding their breath.

Because Evan’s story is ours. Or at least, it feels like it.

In an age of filtered intimacy and curated realities, Evan Hansen, a high school senior with social anxiety and a craving to belong, gets caught in a spiral—a misunderstanding that turns into a viral lie. But what begins as deceit becomes something more tender: a mirror held up to our deepest fears and our quietest hopes.

It’s a musical about the need to be heard. About the weight of silence. About how easy it is to perform connection online and how terrifying it is to try for the real thing in person.

And in a country where mental health is only recently stepping out of taboo, Dear Evan Hansen lands like a hand on your shoulder—gentle, grounding, unflinching.

What Makes This Production Different

This is not the Broadway version shipped over wholesale. This is the UK & International touring production, helmed by Nottingham Playhouse, ATG Productions, and Gavin Kalin Productions—a brand-new version of the show, directed by Adam Penford and featuring a reimagined design by Morgan Large.

Expect all the songs you know (“Waving Through A Window,” “For Forever,” “Words Fail,” “You Will Be Found”), but with fresh staging, emotionally-charged performances, and a cast that brings nuance and truth to every aching beat.

Presented in Manila by GMG Productions, the very same company that brought us Hamilton, Miss Saigon, and Come From Away, this run of Dear Evan Hansen is part of their continued mission to elevate Filipino theatergoers with globally recognized works that speak to today’s most urgent conversations.

Why It Matters: The Theater We Need

The last few years have taught us about loss, disconnection, digital noise, and the hunger for meaning. Dear Evan Hansen isn’t a fantasy—it’s a confrontation. But it’s also comfort.

For anyone who’s ever felt invisible.
For anyone who’s ever needed help but couldn’t ask.
For anyone who wants to be reminded that it’s okay to not be okay.

This show—this moment—is for you.
