In celebration of the 75th anniversary of the FEU Auditorium, the Far Eastern University (FEU) Center for the Arts presents a one-of-a-kind event: "Music 101: 600 Years of Music," an "informance" featuring the world-renowned, award-winning pianist, Dr. Raul Sunico.

This unique event will feature Dr. Sunico delivering a lecture-demonstration on the evolution of music, covering everything from the Medieval period up to contemporary times. If you’ve ever wanted to dive deep into the history of music or experience an engaging and informative session from a musical master, this event is for you!

There will be two sessions, so make sure to attend both for the full experience:

  • Session 1: 9:00 AM

    • Covering the Medieval, Renaissance, Baroque, and Classical periods.

  • Session 2: 1:00 PM

    • Exploring the Romantic, Post-Romantic, and 20th Century periods.

Who is Dr. Raul Sunico?

Dr. Sunico is not just any pianist; he is a true master with credentials that will leave you in awe. He holds degrees in Music, Mathematics, and Statistics, and he has earned his Ph.D. in Piano Performance from New York University. Described as having a “well-developed technique” and a “genuine connection to the music” by The New York Times, Dr. Sunico has captivated audiences worldwide, performing as a soloist for renowned orchestras across the globe.

Throughout his illustrious career, Dr. Sunico has graced the FEU Auditorium’s stage multiple times, with memorable performances such as “An Evening of Gershwin Songs” (1988) and “The Songs of the Philippine Revolution 1896-1898” (1997). His last performance at FEU, alongside blind tenor-pianist Carlos “Chuckie” Ibay, featured an unforgettable rendition of Rachmaninoff’s Piano Concerto #2.
